A message from the President and Vice-Chancellor of Saint Mary's University, Dr. Michael Khan
Dear Alumni,
Welcome to the fall edition of Maroon + White, your connection to Saint Mary’s University and our alumni family around the world.
During my first Fall Term as president, I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know the campus and meeting with students, faculty, staff and alumni. I am deeply impressed by the diversity, energy and passion of our community. Whether here in Nova Scotia or during recent visits to Ontario and Alberta, every conversation has reinforced what I already knew: Saint Mary’s graduates are engaged and making a difference.
Homecoming 2025 was a wonderful reminder of this. Nearly 4,000 alumni, students, staff, faculty and Huskies fans returned to campus for a vibrant weekend of celebration. I was honoured to be part of it.
At Fall convocation, I spoke to the graduating class and their proud supporters. I truly believe that Saint Mary’s prepares young people to succeed in a world of change, helping them think critically, act ethically and lead with purpose.
With this in mind, my priorities as president are to foster interdisciplinary collaboration, advancing research that meets real life and leveraging our community as a competitive advantage. Together with my colleagues, we’ll do this in the supportive environment Saint Mary’s is known for, encouraging our students to dream big and go beyond what they think is possible.
I hope you are as inspired as I am by our students and our community as you read the stories in this edition of Maroon+White. I’m honoured to lead this next chapter at Saint Mary’s and excited for what we’ll achieve together.
Warm regards,
Dr. Michael Khan President, Saint Mary’s University

We also came together for Homecoming 2025, a highlight of the year that once again showcased what makes Saint Mary’s so special. From class reunions to the Sport Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, the weekend was filled with pride, connection and Huskies spirit. Thank you to everyone who joined us in person or in spirit. You are what keeps the Saint Mary’s story thriving.
As we look ahead to the Winter Term and a new year, I would like to thank each of you for the ways you continue to support Saint Mary’s through mentoring, volunteering, attending events or simply sharing your pride in being a Husky.
